2. The end of winter is almost here and the increase in golf bookings proves this point. July is always a quiet month on the course, but from August things will pick up nicely, with September seeing us back into full swing.
Something important for your diaries! A prestigious golf tournament is taking place at the club from Saturday 8th August to Monday 10th August. The Annual Oasis National Teams event is being held at the Riviera on Vaal Country Club over this long weekend, which means the course is closed. This will provide the club with a significant cash injection and only happens once a year. Despite the inconvenience to members, we have negotiated very good rates at Maccauvlei and Meyerton for all our members over this weekend, including Saturday afternoon.
A round at Maccauvlei will only cost you R120 and at Meyerton, R90. Please book directly with their Pro Shops should you wish to play there. Thank you for your understanding in this regard.
Our winter projects are nearing completion, with the finishing touches being made to the drainage ditch across the course and work on the service roadway and bridge next to Golf Road also in full swing. Cleaning up the mess made by the Marina contractors on the 18th will be done in conjunction with this.
The new F&B Manager, Michael Graser has settled in nicely and I am confident he will attend to all service issues quickly and efficiently. We wish him every success.
Our new quiz evenings on Wednesday nights promise to bring back the fun of the “old days” at the club. Please support this great idea. A great deal of effort is being put into this and I challenge all past quiz champions to enter teams and show us how it’s done… Perhaps pulling out the Trivial Pursuit at home on these cold winter evenings would be a good place to start!
Happy golfing and best wishes,
David
